Animal awareness and values ​​education with children

In this beautiful program you will be able to intertwine your passions, you will be able to work with the dogs and cats in the area, since it is a project where they are protected when they are in a situation of street, abandonment and abuse, as well as unite your collaboration by carrying out tasks awareness of values ​​and support for children in the area.

What is this program about?

In this project you can distribute the tasks according to two schedules, that is, you can spend more time on one of them, depending on your skills and preferences.

In itawareness and inclusion program, awareness talks are held for boys and girls, giving importance to animal values, as well as teaching workshops.

This program’s task is to generate awareness of inclusion in society, for which we will carry out campaigns in primary, secondary and technical schools, as well as in indigenous communities, with the aim of reaching children, adolescents, parents, and teachers, with the design and delivery of material, as well as a follow-up to them to know the impact.

On the other hand, you can also participate in therapeutic support tasks with animals for vulnerable groups, such as adolescents or children with disabilities and in correctional facilities, foster homes, etc.

in the programmanagement of shelter, dogs and cats in street and abandoned situations are cared for, where your tasks will be; walking dogs in the forest in groups of 4 per walk, buying natural food in the market, cooking and feeding the 32 dogs and 16 cats, giving food and water to street dogs, cleaning the spaces, caring for our disabled dog.

How is the day to day and what will I do as a volunteer?

The day to day of the volunteer consists of a collaboration of approximately 3 or 4 hours, distributed during the morning or afternoon according to needs.

A typical volunteer day begins with the volunteer’s arrival at the project. Once in the project, the volunteers meet with the local coordinator to organize the activities planned for the day.

Throughout the morning each volunteer contributes to the assigned tasks. A stop is made for lunch and, depending on the needs, they continue with the tasks or have free time.

The volunteer can visit nearby areas in his free time.

Depending on your interests and abilities, you can distribute your volunteering in a different way, that is, dedicating more time to work with animals, or dedicating the greatest percentage of your time to collaboration with children and the community.

You will carry out activities such as:

  • Ccampaigns in primary, secondary and technical schools, as well as in indigenous communities.
  • Value workshops.
  • Teaching and awareness activities.
  • Ttherapeutic support areas with animals for vulnerable groups.
  • Gshelter station.
  • Dogs and cats in street and abandoned situations are cared for.
  • Walking dogs in the woods.
  • Buy natural food in the market.
  • Cook and feed.
  • Give food and water to street dogs.
  • Clean spaces.
  • Take care of our disabled dog.

Requirements to participate

  • Be over 18 years old (except if you are traveling with your parents).
  • Cover the cost of the program according to weeks.
  • Have a mandatory travel insurance.
  • Respect cultures and religions.
  • Have a criminal record certificate.
  • Be proactive.
  • Follow the rules of local accommodation and projects.
  • Have an entry and exit ticket to the country in allowed tourist time.
  • Have a valid passport with more than 6 months.
  • Having previously dealt with dogs, as you will be dealing with dogs with difficulties.

Where will I be and when do I have to arrive?

Where will the accommodation be?

It is a house of volunteers, wherelive together with the rest of the volunteers and with the disabled dog. The accommodation consists of rooms that you will share with the rest of the volunteers, you will also share the bathroom and common areas such as the kitchen to prepare your meals. It is located in safe areas and has several supermarkets nearby.

The accommodation provides:

  • Shared room.
  • Use of common areas.
  • Shared bathroom.
  • Linens.
  • WIFI (Internet).

Dates and method of arrival

The project is open throughout the year, it is advisable to arrive during the weekendweek, since the project starts every Monday where your presentation will take place.

How long can I go?

You can be in the project from 1 week up to 12 weeks.

How do I sign up?

To sign up is very simple, you only have to follow 5 very important steps, the first thing is once you have read everything that is included and not included and the costs that you have in the country tab.

  2. You receive an official confirmation of place.
  3. Make a 1st contribution of enrollment to the program.
  4. You make a video call with the coordinator to better prepare your arrival.
  5. Sign the international volunteer agreement and complete the rest of the financial contribution as indicated by your coordinator.


What can I see during the weekend?

During your volunteering you can get to know Baja California or explore the Mexico City, you will have the opportunity to visit the following museums:

  • Anthropology.
  • Modern Art.
  • Soumaya.

Also the archaeological zones such as:

  • Teotihuacan.
  • The zocalo.
  • The Mexican folklore building in Xochimilco or Garibaldi and its crowded neighborhoods like Coyoacán.

You can also explore the film offer offered by the Cineteca Nacional or walk through the largest parks in the city.

Another charming location is Puerto Escondido, a Mexican city and port belonging to the state of Oaxaca. It is located about 800 km southeast of Mexico City and 290 km from the capital, Oaxaca de Juárez, between Acapulco and Huatulco, in the Coastal Region.

This place is a key site to discover and be in contact with marine fauna and nature.

Finally, you cannot miss the Caribbean beaches. The Riviera Maya is one of the areas that you cannot miss during your volunteering in Mexico. Once you arrive in Puerto Morelos, a strategic point in the area to move around the different places, you will find an apartment a few km from the Caribbean beach.
