Care centres in Nepal

cuido de niños nepal

In the volunteer program in care centres in Nepal, we started by caring for children from poor families without access to education and with parents working in the carpet industry.  Now the program also supports orphaned children and youth throughout Nepal.  Approximately 500 children are cared for in different areas ranging from nurseries to schools, with children from 5 to 18 years of age.

The care centers in Nepal operate thanks to donations received from charities and private entities, that help to cover the expenses of food, clothing, rent and transport. However, it’s still a constant struggle every day.

One of the main objectives of the volunteer programm in care centres in Nepal is to provide sustainable educational support to socially disadvantaged children and youth, in order to improve their emotional and cognitive development.

YOUR ROLE AS A VOLUNTEER

The main task of the volunteer in this program is to support educational activities and games with children, such as arts and crafts, didactic games or songs.  You will also assist the local staff in developing new ideas and activities where children and youth can improve their learning.  Any support you offer helps build a child’s self-esteem and confidence.
Some of the activities that are carried out on a daily basis are:

  • Nutritional support
  • Creating and participating in games and sports for children
  • Spending time with children and sharing their life stories
  • Fun activities to make kids feel special
  • Teaching basic English (if you know the language well)
  • Help in the kitchen
  • Assisting in the cleaning of the orphanage
  • Hygiene activities such as nail clipping, hair cutting, washing clothes, sheets, etc.
  • Other activities required by the project
