Children’s Aid Volunteering

Programmes to help children in Nepal

Originally, the children’s aid volunteer programmes in Nepal were aimed at children from poor families who have no access to education. Today, these places also support orphaned children and young people all over Nepal.

The care centres function thanks to donations received from charities and private donations for food, clothing, rent and all other living expenses, but this is a constant struggle every day.

One of the main objectives of the children’s aid volunteer programmes in Nepal is to provide sustainable educational support and care to socially disadvantaged children and young people, to improve their emotional and cognitive development. Very similar to the care that takes place within the volunteer programmes with children.

WHAT WILL I DO AS A CHILD RELIEF VOLUNTEER IN NEPAL?

The main task of the children’s aid volunteer programme in Nepal is to support educational activities and games with the children, such as art, didactic games and songs. As well as assisting local staff in developing new ideas and activities where children and young people can enhance their learning. All the support you offer helps in building a child’s self-esteem and confidence. Some of the activities that are carried out on a daily basis are:

  • Feeding support
  • Creating and participating in games and sports for the children
  • Spend time with the children sharing their life stories
  • Fun and other fun activities to make the children feel special.
  • Teach basic English, if proficient in the language.
  • Assistance in the kitchen
  • Assisting in cleaning the orphanage
  • Hygiene activities such as nail clipping, hair cutting, washing clothes, sheets, etc.
  • Other activities required by the project itself

WHAT IS THE ACCOMMODATION LIKE IN CHILDCARE VOLUNTEERING?

During the volunteer project in Nepal, you will stay with a Nepalese host family close to your chosen project location. The host families are very welcoming and create long-lasting relationships. Staying with a Nepali family will allow you to get to know the real Nepali culture, traditions, and also to be part of the local celebrations and festivals. The accommodation provides you with:

  • Two meals (breakfast and dinner).
  • Bed in a shared room with other volunteers.
  • Hand washing facilities.
  • Use of common areas.
