Construction in the Hua Hin community in Thailand

There are many families in Thailand living in poor housing conditions and many of their local community areas and facilities, such as temples, hospitals or schools, are still in need of much improvement.

  • Get to know the culture and customs working hand in hand with the local population.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the community.
  • Learn local construction techniques.
  • Create new places and safe spaces for children and the local population.
  • Live a unique experience feeling proactive and fulfilled.

What is this program about?

In the construction programme, in order to address this concern discussed above, it is intended that volunteers help improve the standard of living of the local population in need, providing support in construction and renovation works.

This very important work is done by creating proper sanitation facilities. In addition, it makes homes safer places to live and ensures that communities have greater authority over their own development initiatives.

How is the day to day and what will I do as a volunteer?

The day to day of the volunteer consists of a collaboration from Monday to Friday.

A typical volunteer day begins with breakfast at the accommodation with all the volunteers. At the end, the volunteers go to the project, where they meet with the local coordinator to organize the activities planned for the day.

Throughout the morning each volunteer contributes to the assigned tasks. A stop is made for lunch and, depending on the needs, they continue with the tasks or have free time.

The volunteer can visit nearby areas in his spare time. In the evening, the group has dinner and prepares for the next day.

The activities that you will carry out during your volunteering will range from light work, such as cleaning the area, mixing cement and painting, to more demanding tasks, such as building the wall (plastering) and repairing the ceiling. Participants will be closely instructed and supervised by our coordinator who has extensive experience in construction work to make sure that all processes are safe for them and that housing conditions are also safe for the local people to live in.
