In this project of volunteering in Peru you will help build, rebuild and maintain everything the community needs. You will be in direct contact with people in the community, attending to their needs regarding the facilities. In addition, you will collaborate in farm activities with the animals of the community and families.

What is this program about?

The project consists of providing care to the community, helping in the maintenance of safe spaces, construction of new areas, care of ecological orchards and farms.

The help of the volunteer is essential for many of the tasks in the community to go ahead, in addition the volunteer can bring new methods that speed up and improve life in the community.

How is the day to day and what will I do as a volunteer?

A typical day of volunteering begins with breakfast at the accommodation or wherever the volunteers want, since they have common areas to cook. Volunteers go to the project by bus (around 40 minutes max), where they meet with the local coordinator to see what activities are planned for the day.

Throughout the morning each volunteer contributes to the assigned task. A stop is made for lunch and, depending on the needs, they continue with the tasks or have free time.

The volunteer can visit nearby areas in his spare time. At night, the volunteer is free, can cook at home or go out to see the local bars.

The general activities carried out by the volunteers are:

  • Paintwork.
  • Repair.
  • Adobe construction.
  • Holistic permaculture activities.

Requirements to participate

  • Be over 18 years old (except if you are traveling with your parents).
  • Cover the cost of the program according to weeks.
  • Have a mandatory travel insurance.
  • Respect cultures and religions.
  • Not have a criminal record.
  • Be proactive.
  • Follow the rules of local accommodation and projects.
  • Have an entry and exit ticket to the country in allowed tourist time.
  • Have a valid passport with more than 6 months.

Where will I be and when do I have to arrive?

Where will the accommodation be?

The airport you should arrive at is theAlexander Velasco Astete International Airport (CUZ), in progress. If you arrive on Saturdays or Sundays between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., you will be picked up at the airport. If you arrive at a different time, the local coordinator will tell you how to get there or if there is any extra charge.

Once you arrive you will stay at the volunteer’s house, located in Cusco, in a neighborhood near the center, 10 minutes by car or 40 minutes on foot. The volunteer’s house has rooms that you will share with other volunteers, you will also share the bathrooms and common areas. The house has Wi-Fi and has bedding for each volunteer.

Dates and method of arrival

The program is open throughout the year, your schedule will be from Monday to Friday, around 4-5 hours divided into the mornings or afternoons according to needs.

It is advisable to arrive during the weekend, since the project begins every Monday where your presentation will take place. If you arrive on Saturday or Sunday between 6:00 am or 9:00 pm, you will be picked up at the airport, otherwise they will tell you how to get to the project.

How long can I go?

You can be in the project from 2 weeks until 12 weeks.
