Program different abilities in Vietnam

In this project you will be with children with special needs. The work of the volunteer is very important, since in less developed countries such as Vietnam, the personalized needs of these children are not attended to as much. So your performance will improve day to day.

What is this program about?

This program seeks to help children who have functional diversity or different abilities that come from poor families that do not have the means to provide care for their children, so that the participants will be able to make a difference by helping to feed these children, making them feel comfortable, and organizing games and activities to make children more active and develop their social skills.

There are many children who, despite having different abilities, do not have the resources to have an optimal and efficient education. That is why you come in here, having a very important role in the day to day of these boys and girls.

You will find yourself with disabilities of all kinds, both mental and physical. Your love and knowledge will make it as easy as possible for these children to have a future.

How is the day to day and what will I do as a volunteer?

A typical volunteer day begins with breakfast at the accommodation with all the volunteers. Volunteers head to the project (by bus or on foot, depending on the assigned area), where they meet with the local coordinator to see what activities are planned for the day.

Throughout the morning each volunteer contributes to the assigned task. A stop is made for lunch and, depending on the needs, they continue with the tasks or have free time.

 The volunteer can visit nearby areas in his spare time. In the evening, the group has dinner and prepares for the next day.

The general activities carried out by the volunteers are:

  • Help with the hygiene and food needs of children.
  • Playful activities.
  • Teaching through play.
  • Activities of creativity, psychomotricity and mental activity.
  • Cognitive rehabilitation.
  • Socialization workshops.

Requirements to participate

  • Be over 18 years old (except if you are traveling with your parents).
  • Cover the cost of the program according to weeks.
  • Have mandatory travel insurance.
  • Respect cultures and religions.
  • Not have a criminal record.
  • Be proactive.
  • Follow the rules of local accommodation and projects.
  • Have an entry and exit ticket to the country in allowed tourist time.
  • Have a valid passport with more than 6 months.
  • It is favorable if you have some experience or knowledge about disabilities.
  • Certificate of criminal offenses and Cv.
  • Fluent English.

Where will I be and when do I have to arrive?

Where will the accommodation be?

The airport you need to arrive at is Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN), in Vietnam. If you arrive on Saturdays or Sundays between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., you will be picked up at the airport. If you arrive at a different time, the local coordinator will tell you how to get there or if there is any extra charge.

Once you arrive you will stay at the volunteer’s house, located in Ho Chi Minh. The volunteer’s house has rooms that you will share with other volunteers (between 4 and 6 people), you will also share bathrooms and common areas. The house has security 24 hours a day, Wi-Fi, has bedding for each volunteer, has air conditioning and hot water.

Dates and method of arrival

The program is open throughout the year, your schedule will be from Monday to Friday, around 4-5 hours divided into the mornings or afternoons according to needs.

It is advisable to arrive during the weekend, since the project begins every Monday where your presentation will take place. If you arrive on Saturday or Sunday between 6:00 am or 10:00 pm, you will be picked up at the airport, otherwise they will tell you how to get to the project.

How long can I go?

You can be in the project from 2 weeks to 12 weeks.

How do I sign up?

To sign up is very simple, you only have to follow 5 very important steps, the first thing is once you have read everything that is included and not included and the costs that you have in the country tab.

  1. Fill out this form with the dates you want.
  2. You receive an official confirmation of place.
  3. Make a 1st contribution of enrollment to the program.
  4. You make a video call with the coordinator to better prepare your arrival.
  5. Sign the international volunteer agreement and complete the rest of the financial contribution as indicated by your coordinator.


What can I see during the weekend?

Traveling on your own to Vietnam is very easy, there are many buses, trains and agencies, as well as motorcycle rental is very affordable. You will discover many activities of all kinds and for all tastes. Do not forget to walk through its streets and discover the local gastronomy.

  • Visit the Phong Nha National Park.
  • Discover the ancient city of Hue
