Solidarity teaching camp in Morocco

What is this program about?

The volunteer is in charge of supporting and offering activities and workshops to the children of the community. Activities are carried out both for school reinforcement, mathematics, English, as well as recreational activities, games, art, etc. In addition, the volunteer is involved in the maintenance and painting of the school and facilities for children.

This beautiful project is focused on supporting the precarious education of children in the area. Thanks to your help, the children learn English, French and Spanish. There are also personal hygiene workshops, drawing, music, psychomotor activities that help the development of children.

The dedication of the volunteers, their love and affection, are the indispensable support for these children, who receive them with open arms.

The local coordinators always offer activities to do in your free time, and for the volunteers to have fun and get to know the country from within.

We support 40 children between 1 and 6 years old, 50 children between 7 and 14 years old, that is, around 160 families.

How is the day to day and what will I do as a volunteer?

The day to day of the volunteer consists of a collaboration from Monday to Friday.

A typical volunteer day begins with breakfast at the accommodation with all the volunteers. When the volunteers finish, they walk to the project (around 5 to 20 minutes depending on the center they go to), where they meet with the local coordinator to organize the activities planned for the day. Activities also take place at the volunteer’s home and the common spaces that exist.

Throughout the morning each volunteer contributes to the assigned tasks. A stop is made for lunch and, depending on the needs, they continue with the tasks or have free time.

The volunteer can visit nearby areas in his free time. In the evening, the group has dinner and prepares for the next day.

The activities that you will carry out during your volunteering are:

  • Development of recreational activities (games, crafts, workshops) for school children from 2 to 6 years old.
  • Paint and decorate the school giving it a new look.
  • Give English, French or Spanish classes to children between the ages of 7 and 14.
  • Workshops or self-esteem activities, physical and mental rehabilitation, physiotherapy, yoga, sports, psychomotricity and communication, for disabled children.
  • Art and music activities, to inspire artistic skills.
  • Creativity and entrepreneurship workshops.
  • Cooking and craft classes.

Requirements to participate

  • Be over 18 years old (except if you are traveling with your parents).
  • Cover the cost of the program according to weeks.
  • Have a mandatory travel insurance.
  • Respect cultures and religions.
  • Not have a criminal record.
  • Be proactive.
  • Follow the rules of local accommodation and projects.
  • Have an entry and exit ticket to the country in allowed tourist time.
  • Have a valid passport with more than 6 months.
  • A criminal record certificate and cv.
  • You also need to be fluent in English, Spanish, or French.

Where will I be and when do I have to arrive?

Where will the accommodation be?

The airport you should preferably arrive at is the Fes-Saiss Airport, in Fes. It is advisable to arrive on Sundays or at the weekend. The different options and costs to coordinate your collection:

  • Option 1:Fez-Saïss Airport (FEZ): Preferably arrive at this airport by proximity.

A person from the organization will be waiting with a sign with the name DARSAMMOURA ADVENTURE VOLUNTEERS at the exit of the boarding gate. Once you are together, from there you will travel directly by taxi to Midelt, where you will spend the rest of the days.

*If the authorities ask you for the name of the city where you are going to stay: Dar Samoura-Midelt, address:Ksar Sammoura Ait Izdeg Midelt, 54300 Morocco.*

  • Cost: €70 (if more volunteers come the day you arrive, the cost is shared)
  • You can come by bus if you arrive in the morning
  • Option 2:Marrakech-Menara Airport (RAK):If you land at this airport, depending on your arrival time, you will have to spend the night in Marrakech. Once you arrive, the person from the organization will be waiting for you with a sign with the name DARSAMMOURA OR ADVENTURE VOLUNTEERS at the exit of the boarding gate. Once you are gathered, you will go to the center of Marrakech.

The first night we stay in a hotel in the center of Marrakech, once there we will take the opportunity to get to know the city. The next day in the morning we will travel by bus to Midelt. Remind you that the transportation and night in the hotel are already organized by the Association, once you are with us at the hotel, each volunteer will have to do it

  • Ask the coordinator for costs not included

Once you arrive you will stay at the volunteer’s house, located in Midlet, it is a very beautiful and quiet mountainous town, strategically placed between Fez and Merzouga, a door town to the desert.

The volunteer’s house has rooms that you will share with other volunteers, you will also share the bathrooms and common areas. The house has Wi-Fi, and has bedding for each volunteer.

Dates and method of arrival

The program It is open throughout the year. The schedule is from Monday to Friday with approximately 5 hours a day divided between the morning and the afternoon. Groups are available in summer and Christmas, check dates. Your stay will be a maximum of 11 days.

It is advisable to arrive on Sunday, to join the program on Monday.

  3. Make a first contribution for registration.
  4. You make a video call with the coordinator to better prepare your arrival.
  5. Sign the international volunteer agreement and complete the rest of the financial contribution as instructed by your coordinator.


What can I see during the weekend?

You can discover this wonderful country in many ways. You can walk byMarrakech and its least expected corners, you will be teleported to the past. This city full of markets, gardens, mosques and the kindness of its people make this place unique. You can go to Jamaa el Fna square, enter the Ben Youssef Medersa, or find the Saadian Tombs. You can’t stop going to the Souk, practice your haggling skills or even get a little angry.

Likewise, if you are in Marrakech, you cannot stop going to the Jewish quarter, it is not very visited, but it is full of charm and color.
