ARE YOU WILLING TO MAKE A VOLUNTEERING TO SUPPORT AND HELP OTHER PEOPLE WHO NEED IT?

Do you want to join an international volunteer program? However, you do not know in which country?, it could be India.  Although this country has made many improvements in the education sector, still half of its population lives in situations of poverty and inequalities. Access to education for some children and youth is limited, mainly in the areas where families of social exclusion live “Slums”

The volunteer program for teaching in Indiais developed in two environments. The first one is developed in public or private schools in rural areas, where access to education and teaching is low. Another of the environments where classes are held is in the neighborhoods that are known as “Slums”. Very poor neighborhoods of Jaipur. Classes are taught in groups of 10 to 15 children per house.

 

TASKS TO DO

Your participation and support is vital for the development of the activities carried out in the teaching program. The work of the volunteer consists of supporting and facilitating the learning of the children by carrying out the following activities:

  • Realization of math and English classes.
  • Support for teachers with teaching methods
  • Help the development of communication skills of children and youth through.
  • Classes of drawing, painting, music or dance.
  • Creation of didactic school material and low cost fun for the realization of classes and workshops in classes.

 

SCHEDULE AND WORK PLACE

The work schedule starts from 8:00 a.m. Monday to Friday. Collaborating between 20 to 35 hours a week.

The educational centers are open all year.

 

ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS

Volunteers stay in the houses selected by Adventure Volunteer in central areas and to the outskirts of Jaipur. The houses have access to Wi-Fi; it has kitchen, living room, dining room and a small terrace, which you can use. It has rooms, which you will share with other volunteers of the same gender. (Approximately four volunteers per room).

In the accommodation, you will receive three meals a day, during your stay in the program.

  • Breakfast: Starts from 8:00 a.m. in the morning. Coffee, tea, milk, bread, jam, butter and eggsare served regularly.
  • Lunch: Is usually servedfrom 12:00pm to 14:00pm. Typical Indian meals.
  • Dinner: Meals similar to lunch and are usually served after 7:00 pm.

 

In the house, you have potable water from the tap.  It is also recommended that volunteers buy bottled water to drink.  In stores, it costs Rs. 20 (€ 0.25) per bottle approximately.

A very important fact: In India, toilet paper is not usually used.  The volunteer must carry or acquire it on his own.  You can find them in supermarkets.

 

 

COST OF THE PROGRAM

The cost of the program is divided into two parts.  To register the program you must pay the cost of € 150 ($ 185).  Up to 1 month before the start of the program, you can make the rest of the payment.

The teaching program in India has a cost of € 660 ($ 814) for the first two weeks. For each additional week it costs € 130 ($ 160). (Prices are in Euro) To convert your local currency you can use the currency converter.

 

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM?

  • Pick up from the airport and transportation to the accommodation facility
  • Accommodation in the volunteer’s house
  • Three (3) meals during the realization of your program
  • Orientation day in the project area
  • 24/7 support from the Adventure Volunteer team
  • Meeting of monitoring and evaluation of the program
  • Induction to the program
  • Volunteer certificate at the end if you require it
  • Transportation from the volunteer’s house to the program

 

WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM?

  • Flights to India
  • Visa, if necessary
  • Health insurance
  • Return to the airport on the last day
  • Drinks or special meals
