VOLUNTEERING FOR SOCIO-EDUCATIONAL INCLUSION IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

SOCIO-EDUCATIONAL INCLUSION PROGRAMME FOR CHILDREN

There are many realities and challenges that are not often seen in countries like the Dominican Republic, specifically in the socio-educational inclusion volunteer programme. Therefore, volunteering to teach with children of different abilities not only gives you the opportunity to get involved, but also allows you to broaden your perspective by working in the volunteer programme with children, young people and adults with different abilities.

With the support and help of local volunteers and staff, we aim to provide the necessary tools for children and young people to have a better quality of life. Many families do not have adequate resources to provide them with educational and medical care, which is why, through the programme, support is provided for therapeutic interventions.

If you decide to participate in volunteering for socio-educational inclusion in the Dominican Republic, you can see the positive impact it has on the children, young people and adults you work with. In addition to promoting social programmes aimed at a segment of the population that faces difficult situations in their daily lives.

WHAT WILL I DO AS A VOLUNTEER IN SOCIO-EDUCATIONAL INCLUSION?

For many families, the special care provided in schools is very expensive. In the socio-educational inclusion volunteer programme we have several specific activities, in which the volunteers support the implementation.

The activities are divided into two timetables, which are as follows (this may vary according to the needs that arise):

  • Social inclusion work including work orientation, social skills and activities of daily living takes place from Monday to Thursday mornings from 9:00 to 12:00 p.m., for students over 18 years of age.

The activities that take place in the morning are as follows:

  • Learning for vocational, pre-vocational and occupational training for our children and young people. This provides them with functional competences that help them in the process of personal integration into the community.
  • Identify the types of emotions in themselves and in others.
  • To know which are the most important social skills for everyday life.
  • To achieve personal independence for children and young people.

In the afternoons, we work with students under 18 years of age. This takes place from Monday to Thursday from 14:00 to 18:00.

  • Activities are developed in mathematical logical thinking, reading and writing and art workshops, multisensory stimulation and computing.

Being part of the socio-educational inclusion volunteer programme within the same volunteer programme in the Dominican Republic is a challenge that offers you learning and satisfaction on a personal level. At the same time you help these children and young people to be better prepared to face life in a different way and to feel protected and safe.
