Volunteering to Support Women in India

Women’s support programmes in India

Violence and male chauvinism are widespread problems in India. The volunteer women’s support programme in India has been set up to support the basic education and skills development of young women. It is a space of support and protection for women going through critical moments, abuse or illiteracy. A safe space is offered, as well as legal, psychological, educational, training and job placement support.

The volunteer programme in India for women focuses on carrying out activities with young girls between 14 and 18 years of age. With the support of the association’s team, the local team and the volunteers, it has been possible to create areas for different trainings and workshops such as: empowerment, teaching workshops, drawing and henna painting.

Through the volunteer project to support women in India we make sure that these women get at least a basic level of education, language (English) and basic knowledge of mathematics. It must be taken into account that many of the women attending the centre do not know how to read and write. So attending classes, trainings and workshops helps them a lot on a personal and professional level.
