TOURIST SITES IN PORTUGAL

In Portugal you will find many places you can visit, here we tell you some that you can not miss.

BICA ELEVATOR

To get there you will have to go to the Alto neighborhood, and once there, hidden among narrow facades and balconies with clothes hanging, you will find the Rua da Bica, where the cool yellow elevator goes up and down every 15 minutes the 200 meters of travel that it has. Along the way you will pass by taverns, doors of houses where neighbors chat, balconies full of flowers and the famous ropes full of clothes… It’s a super Lisbon place!

BELEM TOWER

The most famous place to see in Lisbon that you have to visit and that you will see photographed in practically 100% of the guides, magazines and reports that you will see about Lisbon, is the Belem tower.

This tower, which more than a tower is a fortress, is located in the neighborhood that bears his name, the neighborhood of Belem, and is one of the World Heritage Sites of Lisbon that you can not miss.

The curious fact is that its balconies and domes have Arab influence. Its architect, Francisco de Arruda, lived for a long time in Morocco and where the influence of our Moorish friends in their way of designing was born.

CONVENT OF CARMO

In the heart of the Chiado district is one of the most important, impressive and curious places to see in Lisbon: the Convento do Carmo. Another of the many places that was affected by the famous earthquake that destroyed almost all of Lisbon in 1755 and in this case left the convent shattered.

After the earthquake, the convent began to rebuild but in the middle of its reconstruction, the order of monks that inhabited it was extinct and expelled and the works were paralyzed leaving halfway through its reconstruction resulting in a church “half done” that today remains as a reminder of that fateful earthquake that killed 60,000 people and whose earthquake was felt in half of Europe.
