What are the locations of the programs in Nicaragua?
Our different programs in this country (Teaching, Empowering, and Medical) take place in the centre of the city of Granada. The project locations are usually 30 minutes away by walk (10 minutes away by bus) from the selected family houses where volunteers stay. Regarding the Construction Program, the location is 45 minutes away by bus.
Will somebody pick me up at the airport?
The local coordinator or a team driver will wait for you outside of the Augusto C. Sandino International Airport. You will be able to identify them since they will wear the organisation t-shirt and will carry a sign with your name. They will identify you thanks to the photography we request from you during the application process.
Do I need a visa to travel to Nicaragua?
Most Central American countries do not require a visa for a stay of fewer than 90 days. Nevertheless, your passport should be valid for the whole period of your stay. In any case, we recommend that you contact the Embassy of your chosen country for volunteering.
Is it necessary to have any kind of vaccination?
Nicaragua is currently requesting the presentation of a yellow fever vaccination certificate for persons who, during their trip to Nicaragua, have transited through countries at risk, at airports and border ports of countries at risk, as well as for persons who have been in countries considered at risk, before entering Nicaragua. Because recommend that you call the Nicaraguan Embassy in your country and check to see if there have been any changes.

- Recommended immunizations: Tetanus, Hepatitis A, Triple Virus.
Is it a mandatory requirement to send the application form to Nicaragua?
At the moment it is a requirement that they are asking of everyone who travels to Nicaragua. The following form must be completed and sent at least 7 days before departure according to the instructions given on the website of the Directorate General of Migration and Aliens.
Is it compulsory to have travel insurance?
It is compulsory for all volunteers. In case something happens to you, you will be more easily assisted at the medical facilities indicated by your insurance.
Can I combine different volunteering programs?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to combine different programs running in the same country, but if you choose to travel to different countries as a volunteer, you can participate in more than one. Nevertheless, there is a minimum of 2 weeks of participation for each program.
